Reflections of Little Red Dot

Reflections of Little Red Dot is an immersive exploration of urban memory, framing personal narratives within shifting city architectures. Winner of the SXSW XR Experience Jury Award 2025 and selected for Venice Immersive 2025 (La Biennale di Venezia), this interactive archive and mixed-reality documentary reimagines the artist’s personal recordings from Singapore’s 50th anniversary in 2015. Amidst the nation's rapid urban development and the erasure of historical sites, this project serves as a vessel for collective memory, questioning how we hold onto personal histories in the face of constant change.

The installation invites audiences to engage with a custom-built slide projector and 3D-printed slides. By physically manipulating these archival artifacts, users trigger augmented reality overlays and AI-generated projections that bridge past and future landscapes. This tactile interaction explores the agency we hold in piecing together our own narratives, transforming the act of remembering into a tangible, creative process.

REVIEWS

"Deceptively humble and delightful, this open-world documentary invites us to freely explore a country in transition. Guided by a daring new talent in XR storytelling, it confronts us with the vulnerability of everyday life, evoking a universal sense of place."

SXSW XR Jury

"What struck me is the clarity of the artistic gesture: a passthrough MR experience that keeps the body firmly rooted in the real space, a minimal physical set, and a form of writing that sustains presence without any need for flashy tech. The technology never tries to steal the show; it is held firmly in the service of a story, a position, and a very specific relationship to memory."

"More than a showcase of interface virtuosity, it is a work of memory: by linking testimonies and precious archives, it pulls fragments of city and language back from erasure and suggests that a dignified future is built with the past. This is not a triumph of 'tech for tech's sake', but a victory of intention, story, and the art of care and form... a masterpiece."

Stéphane Gustave, MSc Art & Creative Industries Management

"Add to this a touch of bittersweet retromania, and the result can be at once poetic and direct... From a still-open wound, a work of its own kind - almost miraculous - blooms."
